Connecting Across Language and Distance (2008)

The Law Foundation of Ontario acts as a catalyst for achieving a truly accessible justice system. After identifying the need for greater access to justice for linguistic minorities and rural or remote residents, the Foundation asked George Thomson and Karen Cohl, two public policy experts with justice experience, to prepare a report on the issue.

They conducted a literature review, held extensive consultations with a range of legal, community and government organizations, and prepared the Connecting Across Language and Distance: Linguistic and Rural Access to Legal Information and Services (or the “Connecting Report”, which described the problems and made recommendations for improvement.
