The Law Foundation of Ontario is pleased to announce the appointment of Jordan Goldblatt to the Class Proceedings Committee.
Jordan is a founding and Managing Partner at Adair Goldblatt Bieber LLP. He is consistently recognized for his advocacy across various practice areas, including general commercial, insolvency, product liability, professional responsibility, administrative, and public law litigation. He has acted for clients before judges, juries, and arbitrators throughout Ontario. He represents licensed professionals, professional associations, insurance companies, and both private and public corporations. Among many areas, Jordan has a robust class proceedings practice, as defence counsel and as class counsel.
“We are very pleased that Jordan is joining the Class Proceedings Committee,” says John Brown, the Committee’s Chair and the Legal and Strategic Advisor, Indigenous Initiatives at McCarthy Tétrault. “Jordan brings an extensive breadth and depth of litigation expertise, in particular in class actions, as well as diverse experience in public interest matters. He will be a great addition to the Committee.”
Jordan has presented at various conferences organized by the Law Society of Ontario, the Advocates Society, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association. Jordan has taught trial advocacy at Osgoode Hall’s Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop. Jordan is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invite-only trial advocacy society comprising less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. He received a LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2005. Prior to co-founding Adair Goldblatt Bieber LLP, Jordan practiced at Lenczner Slaght LLP and Goldblatt Partners LLP.
Jordan joins the Committee, replacing Monique Jilesen. Monique served on the Committee from October 2022 to October 2025 and added her expertise and commitment to the public interest to the work of the Committee. The Foundation and Committee thank Monique for her dedicated service.
The Class Proceedings Committee is responsible for making decisions about whether applicant class action plaintiffs will receive support from the Class Proceedings Fund. Both the Fund and Committee were established in 1992 as an amendment under the Law Society Act. The Fund provides financial support to approved class action plaintiffs for legal disbursements and indemnifies plaintiffs for costs that may be awarded against them in funded proceedings. The Fund promotes access to justice by enabling plaintiffs to fully pursue their claims.
The Law Foundation of Ontario provided a $500,000 endowment to establish the Class Proceedings Fund and supports the work of the Class Proceedings Committee by administering the Class Proceedings Fund. The Class Proceedings Committee has five members, one appointed by each of The Law Foundation of Ontario and the Attorney General of Ontario, and three appointed jointly.
